Deployment Ideas

As I mentioned before, Wildhorse is heading over to Afghanistan. So, considering I have done this a bunch of times, I should have lots of ideas, right? However, this is the first time embarking on this type of distance between two small children and their daddy, who they are obsessed with from the time he gets home from work until bedtime.

So, I was wondering if any of you, my wonderfully creative friends, have ideas about what projects he could do for the kiddos before he leaves to keep his presence abounding around the house. I am going to have him record bedtime stories, so we can listen to those every night. After that, I am sort of drawing a blank. Help!!

  1. What about making the kids a daddy pillow? You take a picture of Wildhorse, and copy it onto fabric (iron on?), and make a pillow they can sleep with, or in Huck’s case, wrestle with!

  2. MTay902 is brilliant! That’s the same idea I was going to suggest. You could also make kiddo pillows for Daddy to take with him!

  3. What about those story books you can buy at Hallmark and he can record his voice reading them and then he can still read bedtime stories to them?
